This is a satisfyingly good embellished biopic presented as a shabby cop flick. It lacks an edge, but 1970's NY comes across well as gritty and cool.

Not what I expected. Very Cronenberg. A relaxed thriller, a little too slick, but good. Less is more when it comes to the 'violence' (as in Eastern Promises).

This was enjoyably unpretentious. Refreshing to see this kid breach the early 80's NYC art scene. Inevitably it was corrupting. (Watch it with Factory Girl!)

Trying too hard to be real. I grew bored with the tedious screenwriter's life and gave up after 20 mins. I should give it another chance, everyoneelse was fine.

I'm not really a fan of the western genre, and there were a few too many bullets, but it's a vivid campfire yarn that starts well, and ends less so.

Reflections of American toil and capitalism. Don't be put off by the length; although not quite epic, its greatness is unsympathetic, yet its aesthetics are.
